THE date has been set for a flower show … and yes, it’s in the fuschia.
Square’s Garden Centre in Heathlands Road is to host the Reading and District Fucsia Show on Saturday, July 27 at its Wokingham base.
This year is the group’s 50th anniversary and they will be pulling out all the stops to make the show a memorable event.
There will be displays by local growers and varieties not normally seen, exhibited by specialist fuchsia growers and enthusiasts throughout England and Wales.
The free event is open to the public at 1pm, after judging has taken place.
Paul Munro, Chair of the Reading & District Fuchsia Society, said: “We are pleased that Squire’s Wokingham has once again kindly agreed to host this important regional Fuchsia Show and we look forward to welcoming both fuchsia enthusiasts, as well as those who might be new to this wonderful plant. There will be a warm welcome and visitors will be able to access some truly wonderful varieties on display under the plant canopy at Squire’s.”
Squire’s chairman emeritus Colin Squire, said they were delighted to be hosting the event.
“Squire’s prides itself on supporting and promoting horticulture,” he said. “Squire’s Wokingham provides a perfect setting for these wonderful plants to be displayed as well as enabling visitors to see some of the very best fuchsias there are at this free event.”
