A BOROUGH garden centre is on a festive mission to find Santa.
Could you be him?
Squire’s Garden Centre Wokingham, is searching for a special someone to host their magical Christmas Grotto.
Failing an application from the twinkly-eyed festive fellow himself, the garden centre is hoping that a borough resident will put themselves forward to represent him.
Duties will include playing the role of Santa, working with a team of jolly elves, having a friendly chat with children ahead of the big day and presenting a beautifully wrapped gift to each child, commemorating their special visit.
Ross McEwan, Retail Operations Manager at Squire’s Garden Centres believes it is a perfect opportunity for anyone who loves the magic of the festive season and who might like to embrace the special joy that Santa brings to children and families alike.
The ideal candidate will have some of the attributes of the jolly man himself – including twinkly eyes and being prepared to wear the special signature look, complete with full white beard, red velvet coat and white fur trim – which will be provided.
Ross said: “This Christmas we’re excited to add even more magic to Squire’s Wokingham, with our enchanting Santa’s Grotto experience.
“We’re looking for that special someone who truly captures the spirit of Christmas – someone who can make children’s faces light up as they step into the magical world of Santa’s Grotto at Squire’s Wokingham.
“It’s about bringing joy, wonder, and a sprinkle of Christmas magic to every visit. “
Santa will be required to make his special appearances at Squire’s Wokingham from Saturday November 23, through to Tuesday December 24.
He will need to be available every Saturday during that period, from 9am until 5pm, and every Sunday from 10am until 5pm.
Other dates required are Friday, Monday and Tuesday, December 20, 23 and 24, all from 9am until 5pm.
“Squire’s Santa will have the unique opportunity to create lifelong memories, not just for children, but for families too,” said Ross.
“We’re a family business, and an important part of the local community.
“We want to attract individuals who will enjoy working with us in a friendly, energetic customer-focused environment.
“At this magical time of year, we’re looking for someone who is patient, great with children, enthusiastic, – and, above all, will really make a difference for our younger visitors.”
Ross says that Squire’s prides itself on colleagues providing excellent customer service, with a friendly and helpful attitude.
In turn, he says, Squire’s offers a generous benefits package, including staff discount.
The Squire’s Wokingham Grotto will be supporting the centre’s Charity of the Year, with £1 from the sale of each Grotto ticket sold going towards the centre’s charity partner, CLASP, a self-advocacy group for people with learning disabilities in the Wokingham Borough.
To apply, people should visit: careers.squiresgardencentres.co.uk and search for Santa, or drop in for a friendly chat with the centre manager.
