Bracknell residents say a live music venue is ‘what the town needs’ at the news that one could soon be opening.
Musica Group Ltd is hoping to take over the former TGI Fridays restaurant in the Lexicon, which closed in October.
The company wants to sell alcohol, play live music and recorded music from 11am to 12am Monday to Thursday, until 1am on Thursdays and until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.
It is also seeking a late night refreshment licence which would cover the same opening hours.
Residents have reacted positively to the news, in the hopes that it could bring better night-life to the town centre.
Glen Riley said: “Great idea, something different and hopefully they can showcase local talent and have a variety of music.”
Dave Cruttenden said: “The best news for all signers and musicians in the Bracknell area, and hopefully get another one relocated too.”
Mr Cruttenden referenced the Acoustic Couch, like many other readers, which must relocate from the High Street Car Park by December.
The site is made with crumbling concrete and is set to be demolished to make way for new homes and offices.
Andy Daley said the new venue was ‘what the town needs’, while Steve Ware said it was ‘about time’ and ‘definitely needed’.
The licence is yet to be approved by the Public Protection Partnership.
