Reading FC goalkeeper Joel Pereira is reportedly ‘weighing up his options’ ahead of the summer transfer window.

His current contract with Reading expires this month which means that he could potentially leave the club as a free agent this summer.

However, the Royals are hopeful of keeping the 28-year-old shotstopper and have offered him a new contract.

Reading are looking forward to a more optimistic future under the ownership of Rob Couhig and have already offered out new contracts to several important first-team players, including Lewis Wing who signed a new three-year deal last month.

According to EFL journalist Dan Marsh, who writes for The Mirror, Pereira is attracting attention from numerous clubs.

The clubs said to be interested in offering Pereira a contract are Championship Hull City, League One Wycombe Wanderers and Portuguese side Casa Pia.

‘We controlled the game brilliantly’: Richardson reacts to Reading FC’s away win

Casa Pia finished in 9th place in Liga Porgueuse last season, while Wycombe Wanderers were beaten in the League One play-off semi-finals and Hull narrowly escaped relegation from the Championship.

Reading will be desperate to fend off interest from other clubs and will be hoping to extend Periera’s deal, who joined the club in 2023.

Pereira claimed the number one spot at Reading towards the end of the 2022/23 campaign and maintained that place throughout last season and put in some spectacular performances which saw him finish 2nd in the vote for the fans’ Player of the Season.
