A 47-year-old man has been jailed for multiple child sexual offences and rape following a joint investigation by Thames Valley Police and the Metropolitan Police.
Adam Bench, of Stanwell, Staines-upon-Thames, was sentenced to 18 years in prison with a further four years on extended licence at Reading Crown Court on 21 November.
It follows an eight-day trial at the same court, which concluded on 17 September, in which a jury unanimously convicted him of a total of 20 offences. These included:
– Seven counts of sexual activity with a girl under 16
– Six counts of sexual assault of a girl under 13
– Four counts of rape of a woman over 16
– Two counts of assault by penetration of a girl under 13
– One count of inciting a girl under 16 to engage in sexual activity
Bench was acquitted of one further count of inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
Officers said Bench committed multiple offences against children between 2010 and 2022 in West Drayton, before being arrested by the Metropolitan Police in December 2022. He went on to sexually assault another child on a number of occasions in Windsor between September and December 2024. He was arrested on 6 December and charged the following day.
Detective Constable Danielle Baker, of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit, praised the victims for their courage in coming forward.
“I would firstly like to commend the victims’ bravery in coming forward in relation to this abuse,” she said. “The impact that Adam Bench has had on the victims and their families is huge and no amount of punishment will ever be enough.
“The length of this sentence shows the severity of his actions, and he will have many years in custody to think about the damage he has caused.”
She added that the case demonstrated the effectiveness of cooperation between Thames Valley Police and the Metropolitan Police, and urged anyone currently experiencing or who has experienced abuse to report it.
“Thames Valley Police will listen and support you, and we will do everything we can to bring offenders to justice,” she said.
