SWIMMERS, runners and cyclists took on the triple challenge of taking part in the Wargrave Sprint Triathlon last weekend.
The competitors tackled the task of completing a 750m river swim before completing a 20k bike ride and then concluded the course with a 5k run through the Berkshire countryside.
Adam Dart, who entered the race alongside his mother Sue, finished in top spot with a time of one hour, six minutes, 50 seconds.
Andrew Morgan took second place with a time of one hour, seven minutes, seven minutes, 24 seconds, while James Waite was just behind in third with one hour, seven minutes, 50 seconds.
Faye Bartlett was the fastest female finisher with a time of one hour, 16 minutes, 59 seconds and was followed by Catherine Drummond in second place (one hour, 20 minutes, eight seconds) and Sam Manning in third (one hour, 22 minutes, 46 seconds.)
Race organiser Jo Maundrell said: “We had a fantastic morning with 97 people signed up and racing. The weather was perfect, cloudy and dry so not too hot.
“The rolling start for the 750m swim was popular and successful. It was a tough swim with a strong current to swim against for the first half up to the turning buoy.
“The cycle was a challenging 20k loop up to Burchetts Green and then back down towards Henley, a long hard ascent up to Remenham Hill and then left towards Crazies Hill and down the steep fast Kenton Lane back to Wargrave Road before jumping off onto Wargrave high street and running back to transition on Mill Green.
“Everyone over the line was greeted with wooden medals and a glass of fizz. Each competitor also received one of our iconic blue t-shirts.
“We had a wonderful group of volunteers who did an amazing job of keeping everyone safe and informed on the routes.”
