Burghfield FC were crowned as the BTC Senior Cup champions as they defeated Finchampstead FC at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Playing at the home of Reading FC on Friday night in front of more than 700 spectators, it was the Fielders who ensured they would lift the trophy with a 2-0 victory over their Thames Valley Premier League rivals.
With a tense affair looking to be heading into half-time goalless, Burghfield broke through with the final play of the first-half when Jordan Cox headed in from James McClellan’s corner.
The Fielders ensured their name would be on the trophy late in the second-half when they were awarded a penalty with 10 minutes left to play.
Ollie Brown stepped up and converted to double Burghfield’s lead as they closed out a 2-0 success.
Burghfield goalkeeper Ben Lallament said: “What an amazing experience playing at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in the Senior Cup final and to come out on top with another clean sheet was amazing. Big shout out to all the fans who came to watch and support the boys. What a season and what a club.”
