A Wokingham resident has been left without an internet connection after workers “chopped through” his wifi cable.
Richard Williams of Old Woosehill Lane contacted Wokingham Today after workers from City Fibre cut through his existing Sky connection when installing their own fibre network.
He said that no warning had been given about the works, which he said had blocked his drive and left him unable to leave his home.
He added that due to the Easter holidays, it may be next week before he is reconnected.
He said: “In the meantime, I am left with holding all my zoom calls on my phone which is far from ideal.
“I have two kids at home studying over the Easter break, and they are unable to research essays, etc.”
Addressing the company he said: “If this is your plan to get people to switch to your service, I think your strategy is utterly doomed.
Neil Madle, CityFibre’s Partnership Manager for Wokingham, told Wokingham Today: “Our build partner has made us aware of the incident in Wokingham, which occurred during our rollout of full fibre infrastructure in the area.
“We are currently investigating the incident with them and would like to apologise to the resident for any inconvenience caused.”
