Wokingham Borough Council has refused plans for a five-bedroom house on what is currently open pasture in Charvil.
A homeowner had applied for permission to build the home, and associated parking and landscaping at the property on Waingels Road.
In refusing the plans, officrse said: “The proposal represents inappropriate unplanned development on a greenfield open field within the countryside that is outside of, and unconnected to, settlement boundaries.
“The proposal would have a negative, urbanising impact and result in the loss of the unspoiled open green land.”
Charvil Parish Council had objected to the plans, saying: “ The development is located in the countryside behind housing on Waingels Road and Beggars Hill Road.
It added that it felt the development would: “ .. change the area from paddocks and fields to a more suburban character, potentially setting a precedent for further development in the green gap between Woodley and Charvil.”
Officers made the decision on September 11.
