AS PART of its 50th Anniversary celebrations, a borough church is holding an environmental event in Emmbrook, and invites residents to take part.
Members of St Nicholas’ Community Church will be teaming up with Friends of the Emm Brook (FOTEB), to tidy up land near to the stream.
“We’ll clear brushwood, make deadwood piles and possibly create a dead hedge,” said event organiser Anne Armitage, who is a St Nicholas Church member and also part of the FOTEB group.
“All will be explained on the day.
“We’ll meet in the field opposite Emmbrook Senior School, on Emmbrook Road, and will be working along the Emm Brook in the fields there.
“There will be practical and educational activities to help everyone know more about the green spaces at the centre of our community.
“We would love lots of people to join us.”
The event is an opportunity to celebrate and enjoy the natural environment where we live, work and go to school, say organisers.
This event is the latest in a series of birthday activities, marking the launch of St Nicholas church in Emmbrook by the Parish of St Paul’s in 1976.
It follows on from the Emmbrook Village Hall Showcase Event and a Table Top Games Afternoon, both of which were held earlier this year.
Anyone wishing to join the environmental event is advised to bring sturdy footwear and working gloves.
And if people have loppers, pruning saws, or shears, they are asked to kindly bring these too.
The group will provide any additional tools.
The free event will take place at the field across the road from Emmbrook Senior School entrance, on Saturday, September 19, from 10am until 1pm.
