WOKINGHAM’S oldest charity seeks a practical, organised person to help take care of its almshouse buildings at Westende.
Wokingham United Charities, a grant-giving organisation, owns and runs Westende Almshouses.
It is currently looking for the right person to oversee the day-to-day maintenance, safety and smooth running of its almshouse buildings, communal areas and grounds.
With roots dating back to 1451, Wokingham United Charities supports local people experiencing poverty, hardship and distress, while providing quality affordable accommodation for older residents through its friendly and welcoming almshouse community.
The successful applicant will have experience in facilities, property or housing maintenance, with strong organisational skills and a hands-on approach to problem solving.
Their role as facilities supervisor will include: the coordination of maintenance, repairs and servicing; management of contractors to ensure high standards of safety and compliance; and the carrying out of inspections and the maintaining of accurate records.
The facilities supervisor will also support residents with housing-related queries and communication; and help ensure Westende remains a safe and welcoming place to live.
The post is for 28 hour per week, with a (pro-rata) salary of £25,420 to £34,500.
