A MAN wielding a knife threatening to harm himself has been arrested at Earley train station this afternoon.
Officers from Thames Valley Police and British Transport Police were called to the station shortly before 4pm this afternoon following reports of a man on the tracks.
Witnesses say the man refused to leave the tracks and was threatening to harm himself.
Officers eventually apprehended the man and led him away. A knife was also recovered from the scene.
The lines between Reading and Wokingham were blocked while officers dealt with the incident. Power to the tracks was temporarily switched off so that officers could gain access to the man safely, but this has now been restored.

A spokesman from British Transport Police said: “Shortly before 4pm on Wednesday, 2 September, officers were called to the line near to Earley station, Reading, following reports of a man on the tracks.
“Officers attended, alongside colleagues from Thames Valley Police, and discovered a man on the line threatening to harm himself.
“The incident has now been resolved and the man has been safely removed from the tracks and a knife has been recovered.”
