Woodley town councillor Kester Charles Bey has joined the Green Party.
Having sat as an independent councillor, representing Bulmershe ward on the town council, he has chosen to join recent Green Party addition Cllr Majid Nagra as the town council’s second Green councillor.
Kester was elected as a Labour councillor in 2023, and left the Labour Party in 2024.
He said: “What attracted me to the Green Party was its common-sense principles that relate to people.
“The policies are achievable and reflect the views of the people, which is our job as councillors.
“I’m proud to represent a party that supports diversity of nationality in our communities.”
Wokingham Green Party leader Gary Shacklady said: ” We are delighted and proud to welcome Kester as a member of our party and as our second Green councillor on Woodley
town council.
“This shows that we are attracting experienced, well-respected and popular councillors to our party, who share our values and our vision for a cleaner, fairer and safer local area.”
A launch and community outreach event will be held in Woodley precinct on April 25.
