PLAYER RATINGS: Hendrick heroics not enough as Royals draw against QPR

Reading FC spurned a two-goal lead on Saturday afternoon, drawing 2-2 to QPR at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Jeff Hendrick put the Royals ahead in the 28th minute with a goal of the season-worthy strike from 25 yards out after the ball fell perfectly to him.

The Irishman doubled his tally just before the break, tapping in from a yard out when QPR stopper Seny Dieng failed to handle an Andy Yiadom shot.

But Tyler Roberts responded with a brace of his own in the second half, netting from ten yards out and tapping in from close range, to salvage a point for the visitors.

Joe Lumley 7: Made two outstanding saves to deny Dykes and Laird from close-range. Could not have done anything about the two goals.

Junior Hoilett 5: Was run ragged by Paal and Willock in what was not his most comfortable afternoon. Things just didn’t seem to go the Canadian’s way on the day.

Andy Yiadom 5: Forced Dieng into the lacklustre save which led to Hendrick’s second goal. Caught out of position at times.

Tom Holmes 6: Put in a very competent display to nullify the threat of QPR’s dynamic frontline. Could have done better to prevent Roberts’ first goal.

Naby Sarr 5: Missed a crucial header at the back post to allow QPR to equalise. His overall performance was somewhat improved, but has not looked himself since returning from injury.

Baba Rahman 5: Was left to deal with Laird and Roberts alone on a number of occasions in the first half. Really struggled to deal with crosses aimed at the back post.

Sam Hutchinson N/A: Only lasted 15 minutes. A little rash in the minutes he was on the pitch for.

Mamadou Loum 5: A so-so performance from the midfielder who wasn’t able to affect the game.

Jeff Hendrick 8: If his first goal was sensational, his second was simple, but they were enough to earn his side a point. Probably his best performance in a Reading shirt.

Tom Ince 8: Outstanding. Put in another complete performance, showcasing his ability to carry the ball forward time after time. Set the tone out of possession too.

Andy Carroll 6: Worked tirelessly in and out of possession, albeit without being able to fashion any openings of note.

Shane Long 6: Demonstrated a willingness to run and track back. Had a strong shout for a second-half penalty turned down.

Tom McIntyre 5: Slotting into the defensive midfield position for the final half an hour.

Scott Dann 5: Could have done better with both goals.
