Two new businesses are set to open in Wokingham in the coming months.
Greenwood Chapter, an independent bookshop, is getting ready to open its doors at 35 Peach Street this October.
A spokesperson for the business told Wokingham Today: “It started with a simple idea: Wokingham deserves a proper, independent bookshop.
“What began as a quiet dream over two years ago has turned into the biggest project of my life.
“The road to opening our doors has not been straightforward. There have been wrong turns, ‘what-if’ moments, plenty of tea, and a few lessons learned the hard way.
“The goal however remained the same: to create a space that feels like a community hub.”
“Having spent the last decade dedicated to Wokingham — specifically with the Wokingham winter carnival and Wokingham Theatre — I like to think I have learned that the secret to a great local venue is the people, and I look forward to bringing the same spirit of service and community to Greenwood Chapter.”

Stressing the business is very much a passion project that will be more than a bookshop, the spokesperson added: “We have created spaces which will be designed for children with sensory and dyslexia needs and the entire shop will be fully accessible, inclusive and dog-friendly.”
The spokesperson added how the business will not be competing with other businesses in the town and will provide something very different in terms of both its cafe and gift offerings.
Events focused around music, authors, and teachers are also being planned.
Also set to open shortly in Elms Walk at the former This Little Piggy unit is a franchise of bakery business Seventh Heaven,

The company did not respond to a request for comment about its exact plans for Wokingham.
