READING FC secured a valuable point on Saturday afternoon, coming from behind to draw at Bristol City.
Tommy Conway opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time with a tidy side-footed effort after good work down the home side’s right saw the ball fall to the forward inside the box.
The visitors restored parity in the 72nd minute through Lucas Joao – the Angolan got on the end of an Andy Carroll flick-on to head home past Max O’Leary.
Joe Lumley 7: Came out and claimed crosses into the box with authority. Crucially sprinted off his line quickly to deny Nahki Wells in the first half.
Andy Yiadom 5: Started brightly and made some crucial interventions. Never fully in control of the battle with Anis Mehmeti however and tired.
Tom Holmes 6: An early booking didn’t seem to hamper the centre-back who put in another solid showing.
Naby Sarr 5: A few counter attacks almost exposed the defender’s lack of pace, but was fortunately bailed out by Lumley or another teammate. A pretty quiet performance otherwise.
Amadou Mbengue 6: A couple of moments of uncertainty were mixed in with some really positive and encouraging defending.
Nesta Guinness-Walker 5: Looked a little shaky up against Andreas Wiemann early on, but grew into the game. Was replaced by Azeez on the hour mark.
Tyrese Fornah 5: Enthusiastic, but very little to show for his efforts. Went close with a shot from range, but wasn’t able to create much in the way of chances.
Jeff Hendrick 5: Never really got anywhere near the spritely Tommy Conway. Wasn’t able to affect the game to any significant extent.
Cesare Casadei 6: Impressed with a couple of moments of magic, including a sumptuous turn to get away from two Bristol City players on the halfway line. Had less impact as the game went on.
Andy Carroll 6: There was an obvious lack of understanding between Meite and Carroll, but did well once Joao entered the fray and set up the eqauliser.
Yakou Meite 5: Barring a couple of promising runs, the Ivorian didn’t have the strongest of performances – understandable, given his recent injury. Will be important in the coming games.
Substitutes:
Lucas Joao 7: Took his goal brilliantly, heading beyond O’Leary. Played slightly off Carroll and worked hard out of possession.
Femi Azeez 6: Deployed on the left side of the midfield four and put in some decent set piece deliveries.
Kelvin Abrefa: N/A
