A WOKINGHAM special interest group will hear from a National Trust curator and art historian about the revolutionary works of Flemish Renaissance painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder, this month.
A distinctive artistic voice in the 16th century, Bruegel depicted daily peasant life with humour and humility.
Dr Amy Orrock will explain to members of the Arts Society Wokingham ways in which his images were transformed, reproduced and popularised after his death by his two sons and greatest followers, Pieter Brueghel the Younger and Jan Brueghel the Elder.
The Arts Society Wokingham is a friendly and vibrant society offering a full programme of lectures, study days and visits.
Its monthly talks are very popular, and with places limited, people are advised to apply early.
Dr Orrock’s talk is open to all, and will take place at King’s Academy, Binfield, on Monday, May 18, at 7.45pm, with coffee served from 7.15pm.
To reserve a place, people can email: memsectheartssocietywham@gmail.com
