Pupils from Floreat Montague Park Primary School have celebrated the 30th anniversary of the popular children’s book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.
The school’s library became a special bear cave and a hive of activity for the event, organised by Wokingham Borough Council’s Community Engagement Team and supported by David Wilson Homes Southern, who are currently building properties at the Montague Park development.
They donated £200 to the school’s library facilities in the process.
Elizabeth McDonald from Wokingham Borough Libraries took the children on a bear hunt, with this storytelling session.
The children then created their own bear masks, so they could join in with the Bear Hunt story.
And they were joined by David Wilson Homes Marketing Manager Oliver Parmenter, who assisted them in their arts and crafts task and presented the school with the funds.
The much-loved children’s novel, written by Michael Rosen and illustrated by Helen Oxenbury, was first released in 1989.
Rob Allen, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “We were delighted to be able to support such a fantastic event hosted by the school and Wokingham Borough Council.
“With Floreat Montague Park Primary School being located on our Montague Park development we have formed a very strong relationship with them and will continue to support their ongoing projects.
“As encouraging children into reading is a top priority for many schools, we were pleased to be able to give them a donation to their school library as part of the event.”
