Reading Football Club welcomed 400 local children from 10 schools and grassroots clubs to Madejski Stadium on Tuesday night, to give them the chance to meet the Royals and thank them for their support this season.
They included Evendons Primary School and St Crispin’s.
In total, 17 players from the club’s first team and Women’s team took questions from the children on what was said to be an enjoyable evening.
Chief executive Nigel Howe addressed the audience and thanked young Royals for their support of their local side, before introducing the evening and the players themselves.
The children were invited to the event thanks to their success in using the club’s Schools and Grassroots Ticketing Scheme to attend Madejski Stadium matches this season.
Not only did the youngsters get to hear from their footballing heroes, each group was given the chance to have a photo with the squad and get their Royals memorabilia signed – before heading down to the Players’ Tunnel to get an exclusive look at the first team dressing room, and have their photo taken with club mascots, Kingsley and Queensley pitchside.
Each child was given a complimentary ticket to watch our Under-23s in action against Bayern Munich at Madejski Stadium on Monday, April 1, as well as a ticket to see our Women’s team take on Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, April 20.
A spokesperson said: “We would like to thank everyone for attending and playing their part in an evening that saw Reading FC keep in touch with young Royals in the local community – all through interacting with our Schools & Grassroots Ticketing Scheme.”
