RAMS preserved their nine-point lead atop National 2 South following their ninth straight victory with a 32-14 success at Redruth.
It was a long trip down to Cornwall for Seb Reynolds’ men and they flew out of the traps to take an early 12-0 lead with Craig Nightingale and Ben Henderson crossing the whitewash.
Louis Wolf also bagged a try to give the visitors a 20-14 lead at the break with further scores from Jack Steadman and Joe Duffelen clinching the bonus-point victory.
“It takes an incredible amount of hard work from everyone concerned to come to a place like Redruth and get a win, something we have never managed to do before,” said head coach Reynolds.
“Our players were great, but the win would not have been possible without the hard work of Matt Maxwell (first team manager), the physios and our strength and conditioning coaches.”
Rams had to endure a nightmare start as they were called into a replacement in the opening minute. Ollie Taylor popped a rib at kick-off, meaning Nightingale was introduced from the bench in a reshuffle among the forward pack.
But Nightingale made an instant impact, breaking the deadlock after three minutes with Alex Seers adding the extras.
Henderson quickly followed him onto the score-sheet with his 12th try of the campaign.
Redruth hit back midway through the half with a well-executed line-out drive with Richard Brown finishing it off.
However, man-of-the-match Wolf was the next to cross while a Seers penalty opened up a 20-7 lead.
The hosts ended the half strongly with number 8 Sam Stevens dotting down just before the break to halve the deficit.
But the second half belonged to the Rams, down in no small part to their strong defence.
Despite repeated attempts from Redruth, they could not penetrate the blue wall and were given a bigger mountain to climb as Steadman went over.
And Rams added a fifth try late on as Stevie Bryant picked out Duffelen to sprint away and across the line.
“Ollie’s injury was a big loss as he is a high quality line-out forward,” said Rams forwards coach Owen Root.
“But I thought Louis Wolf did a great job in the row alongside Jamie Guttridge and full marks to those boys because they never panicked.
“Craig Nightingale also did a great job for us off the bench and the pack provided a platform which is absolutely essential at Redruth if you are to have any chance of winning at what is one of the most difficult places to get points in National 2.”
Table-topping Rams host Clifton on Saturday (2pm).
