READING FC manager Ruben Selles gave the latest updates on the club’s ownership situation, with a takeover still in the process.

Owner Dai Yongge is still in discussions with several parties over the sale of the club, with up to four bids currently on the table.

“We have a meeting later today with the person responsible in the club to give an update on the whole situation. We have it weekly,” said Selles.

“As far as I know, no (update), but maybe this afternoon there will be something.

“I talk with Mark Bowen and three or four other heads of departments to get a report from them.”

The Spaniard admitted that he has tried to take himself away from the situation as much of possible to avoid distraction from on the pitch matters.

He continued: “We thought it was imminent a couple of times. With the process as soon as any offer gets accepted, it’s between six and weeks to go through all of the paperwork and process.

“Right now, I don’t know if we are any closer to any of the bids. All I know is that from that moment, it will be six to eight weeks.”

Selles also responded when questioned about his own future at the club, with his side currently occupying bottom spot in League One and 10 points adrift of safety.

He said: “I think we are close to winning football matches but we haven’t made it for some reasons.

“As coaches we cannot be nervous, I prefer to expend that energy on how to focus and help the boys prepare and get the very best for the weekend.

“The situation is stressful for all of us on and off the pitch and we hope we can win the game and turn it around.”
