Heavy snow has fallen across Wokingham borough overnight forcing all but a handful of schools to close for the day. As a result, youngsters have been getting into sledges and enjoying snowball fights across the borough.
Joel Park in Wokingham was packed with families seeking to make the most of the wintry weather.
The slopes to the park make it one of the best places in the borough to go for sledging.
As well as going up and down, families also enjoy making snowmen and took part in snowball fights.
And as they did so, snow kept on falling – it is currently forecast to continue for pretty much the rest of the day.
Elsewhere in the borough, it was pretty much business as usual although rubbish collections were cancelled.
A spokesperson for Wokingham Borough Council said: “Due to the snow we have suspended rubbish, recycling and garden waste collections today.
“Anybody whose collection is missed this week can bring your bag/s and bins back in and put them out on their next scheduled collection day.”
The main roads had been well gritted, making it fairly easy for motorists to get around, while the pavements around Wokingham’s town hall were also treated.
The Met Office has a yellow warning in place for snow and ice until 11am tomorrow, and temperatures will struggle to get much above freezing.
