ORGANISERS of an annual fireworks event are looking forward to blast off.
The Twyford & District Round Table have opted for a space theme to mark the 50th anniversary of the moon landings.
The event will take place in the George V Recreation Ground, behind Loddon Hall, on Saturday, October 26.
Tickets for the show have now gone on sale and the event will see fireworks themed around celebrating mankind’s greatest achievement: Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon.
Organisers promise an out-of-this-world display set to music and lights.
And once the night sky has settled down, a bonfire will be lit.
Following on from last year, when the bonfire was rebuilt hours before the show began after vandals wrecked it, the Round Table is once again encouraging the community to bring its wood waste down to the field on the day itself.
Donations to the bonfire will be accepted from 10am to 3pm.
And there is more to the evening than the fireworks.
Gates open at 6.30pm and visitors can enjoy a funfair and stalls.
The Round Table will be organising a barbecue, hot drinks and a card, contactless and cash bar featuring locally-brewed ales and mulled wines.
Tickets are on sale now, priced at £6 per adult, youths 12-16 and senior citizens over 60 at £6, and children under 12 at £1.
In addition, tickets will be available on the gate and from Goodall Smith Wealth Management, High Street, Twyford and The Duke of Wellington.
The Twyford & District Round Table is a charity and community focussed organisation for men to come together twice a month for fun activities, sports and community-minded events such as the Bonfire night and Christmas Santa Sleigh and raise much-needed funds for local charities and community causes. Created in 1927, the Round Table has 30,000 members worldwide but has seen its regional membership reducing in the face of growing entertainment options and the eroding of a clear work-life balance.
Twyford and District Round Table Chairman Neetan Kathuria said: “We are an active group for men between the ages of 18 to 45 to join together, enjoy activities twice a month and raise much need funds for community causes.
“The Bonfire & Fireworks night is a perfect example of combining fun with community spirit to celebrate this amazing town.
“We look forward to seeing you all on the night and encourage you to go online and get your tickets early!”
He added: “I would also like to also emphasise that this is a volunteer group who stage this event for charitable causes will all proceeds from ticket sales, food/drink and glowsticks going to local charities. If you are interested in what we do, and you are a male aged 18-45 interested in joining us, please do get in touch.
“Please keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter feeds for more information about the night. I would like to thank our main sponsors, Ballards Estate Agent and Haweli restaurant, who we could not do this without.”
