A WOKINGHAM pub has been given a new lease of life.
The Victoria Arms reopened last week, after a two-year hiatus.
Greg Robinson has taken the pub on and is promising a simple friendly welcome.
“It’s a traditional English pub, that’s all it is,” he said. “There’s sports on screen and a dart board.
“We have real ale – there’s two on at the moment and we’re hoping to get a third in a couple of weeks. We’re currently serving Doombar and Timothy Taylor Landlord.”
Although it’s been a quiet relaunch for the newly redecorated pub, Mr Robinson has plans to extend the pub’s services in coming weeks, with BT Sport being shown on the pub’s big screens. He hopes to be able to attract a darts’ team.
“We’ll be doing light lunches, with sandwiches and things like that.”
The Easthampstead Road pub is Mr Robinson’s first pub – “it’s a career change,” he explained.
He has moved here from Chichester to be closer to his sister who told him that the Victoria Arms used to be a really nice pub, so he knows he has a reputation to live up to.
So far it’s all been going well.
“Trade has been nice and steady,” he said. “I’m very pleased. The local community are really nice people.”
