Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield is preparing his team for what will be a ‘tough afternoon’ when they face Reading FC on Saturday.
The Chairboys will make the short trip from Buckinghamshire to Berkshire to face the Royals who are in desperate need of points to try and ease their League One relegation fears.
Despite Reaidng’s strong form, the threat of relegation still looms after they were deducted two more points last week and with the further threat of more potential deductions hanging over them.
“We know and repsect the challenge that Reading are going to bring,” said Bloomfield.
“They’ve got some really good players, some really good individual players within a team unit that looks really cohesive at the minute.
“So we know we’re in for a tough afternoon.
“If we concentrate on ourselves, be the best we can be and control the game as we can, both in and out of possession, then hopefully we can have a good afternoon.”
Reading won the reverse fixture in November 2-1 at Adams Park which saw the Royals break a run of more than a whole calendar year without a league win away from home.
Ruben Selles’ team are currently five points above the drop zone and have 10 games left to play, while Wycombe are two points ahead of Reading and have 11 games remaining.
Bloomfield continued: “It’s just another match, but with it comes the excitement of it being a local derby.
“It’s one the supporters would love to win so I’d love to do it for them.
“As a manager and players all we have to do is focus on the process to get the end result.
“We can’t live in the future of Saturday at five o’clock, we have to prepare right.”
