Wokingham Today has reached out to all political parties with candidates standing in the forthcoming local elections. Every party has been offered the opportunity to provide a manifesto-style column to appeal to voters. Today, it’s the turn of Reform UK.
As taxes and the cost of living go up, nothing works anymore! We are in a doom loop that will soon be irretrievable. That’s why we are standing in every ward.
We believe in small government, enterprise, ambition, the individual, compassion, low taxation, competence, the rule of law, freedom, personal responsibility, free market economics, fiscal responsibility, sovereignty, and the Union.
The truth is Britain’s infrastructure is seriously fractured. The cost of living is out of control. Public services are crumbling. Immigration is unsustainable. The Tories, Labour and Lib Dems have taken turns running the country, bringing it to its knees. They have broken Britain. Einstein is attributed with saying “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of madness”. A vote for any of them is a vote for more incompetence, dishonesty, and defeat. Why repeat an experiment that you know the results of?
In England very little discretion exists with local authorities. Westminster dictates what we do but we have some discretion in how we do it. Your council should be ever-present in Westminster ensuring that residents’ interests are protected.
Residents are entitled to expect the staff to be the best they can be chosen through merit, based in the offices of the council and living in the borough.
Whilst the country continues to have huge population growth there is a need for more housing, but that development must be sympathetic, not on green belt or countryside.
We promise:
-
Administrative Competence, Transparency and Honesty
-
Education that delivers.
-
Your community, your say.
-
Local people first for housing
-
Stop the war against motorists
-
Safer roads and potholes repaired
-
Protecting our green spaces
You don’t have to keep voting for those that have let you down. If you want a councillor who works for the community, vote Reform UK on May 7.
