PLANS for a proposed cycle link between Woodley and Reading are now open to comments.
Wokingham Borough Council launched the consultation, which it said “would help decide whether to progress the project” on Monday, January 24.
Last March, more than 600 responses were received to a questionnaire on improving links between Woodley town centre and the Reading borough boundary at Palmer Park.
Cllr Pauline Jorgensen, executive member for highways and transport, said that the council has used feedback from the first survey to develop options for the design of a travel route between Woodley and Reading.
“Residents told us they want to see segregated cycleways, and these would lead to more of them feeling safe to travel around the area on their bikes, with buggies, wheelchairs and on foot,” she said.
“This consultation will be used to make the final decisions on the route and design details.”
One of the options up for discussion is an eastbound closure of Woodlands Avenue, Woodley, for motor vehicles between Howth Drive and Lytham Road.
The consultation will close on Monday, February 21.
