A CHRISTMAS treat is coming to Reading later this month – two free festive comedy shows.

Henley’s sell-out comedy night Honk! is heading to the Après Bar at The Oracle Riverside for the nights of mirth.

Launching last summer, the monthly performance usually takes place at The Relais Henley hotel, to full houses each time. Comedians on the bill have included Arthur Smith, Fiona Allen and Isy Suttie.

Now it travels along the Thames and up the Kennet & Avon for shows at the winter-themed pop-up located in the shopping centre’s Riverside area.

On Thursday, December 14, acts include ITVX star and lastminute.com Comedian of the Year President Obonjo, Radio 4 and Edinburgh stand-up Chelsea Birkby and LGBTQ+ New Comedian 2022 Runner-up Dick Denham.

Then on Tuesday, December 19, the line-up is award-winning BBC Sounds podcaster Jacob Hawley, Funny Women finalist and Capital Xtra DJ Leah Davis and international stand-up sensation Rick Kiesewetter.

The shows start at 7.30pm, with seating on a first-come first-served basis.

Honk! organiser Tom Ryan said: “The Après Bar is such a highlight of the festive season in Reading so we are delighted to be bringing some of the funniest acts around to this unique setting.

“And at the time of year when budgets are tight it’s lovely that WePop and The Oracle have made these shows free.”

Honk! then returns to Henley on Thursday, December 21, for a Christmas special featuring Mary O’Connell (Rolling Stone Top 15 Must-See Comedy Shows 2023), Richard Stott (Top Jokes of the Fringe 2022 & 2023), Twitter star Mollie Goodfellow and singer-songwriter Holly Shillito (Are You Listening, Bunkfest).
