RAIL SERVICES will be severely curtailed on Sunday and Monday as the latest round of strikes take place.
Train drivers’ union Aslef will not be working on Great Western-, CrossCountry- and Chiltern-operated routes on February 5, and members are not working overtime until Tuesday.
Where services are running, there will be a reduced service. Passengers are advised to travel on a different day if possible, and to check before travelling – trains are expected to be busier than usual.
Where GWR can run services, they are expected to be extremely busy and bus replacement services are not provided.
On Tuesday, February 6, there will be some changes to the first services of the day including some planned cancellations.
Customers who have bought tickets but do not travel can claim a full refund or amend their ticket. Those who travel and are delayed may be entitled to Delay Repay compensation if they are delayed by 15 minutes or more.
Tickets for travel to Monday, February 5, can be used up to and including Wednesday 7 February.
Ahead of the strikes, ASLEF’s general secretary Mick Whelan said: “We have given the government every opportunity to come to the table but it has now been a year since we had any contact from the Department for Transport. It’s clear they do not want to resolve this dispute.”
