Members of a local choir have just returned from the trip of a lifetime – singing in one of the world’s most renowned musical halls and taking part in a special flashmob.
Last Friday, May 27, eight women from the Arborfield Military Wives Choir performed as part of a 125-strong choir in Carnegie Hall in New York, something they have described as an “amazing experience”.
For the concert, the women were conducted by Royal composer and conductor Paul Mealor. Five years ago, he wrote the Military Wives Choir number one single Wherever You Are.
And the experience didn’t end there. The women were also involved in a flashmob that took place in Times Square and sang on the USS intrepid.
They also made time to pay respects at the 9/11 memorial.
The eight ladies said that they were privileged to be part of this “amazing journey”.
Member Allison Woolley said: “We didn’t just blow the doors off, we blew the roof off!”
It doesn’t end there – the choir also celebrated its third birthday last week and one of our pictures shows MD Dan Tickner with the choir at a celebration party.
