TWO years ago, I moved to the UK to begin a new chapter in my life.
Like many people, I came with hopes for the future, but things didn’t turn out as I had planned.
I found myself in a very difficult season, feeling alone and uncertain, especially after discovering I was pregnant and navigating life as a single mum.
During that time, my faith in Jesus became my anchor.
Even when I didn’t understand the path ahead, I held onto the belief that He could bring beauty from brokenness and gently lead me forward.
After moving to Wokingham, I connected with Kings Church, and that’s where everything began to change.
I was welcomed with kindness, care, and genuine compassion.
The church became a place of love and support — people walked alongside me, encouraged me, and helped me rebuild my life step by step.
As a single mum, I could have felt completely alone, but through this community, I never was.
I experienced practical help, emotional support, and constant encouragement.
It reminded me that Jesus truly cares about every part of our lives, even the smallest details.
Since the birth of my son, that love has continued to surround us.
My faith hasn’t taken away every challenge, but it has given me strength, hope, and a deep sense of belonging.
Faith, for me, means knowing that no matter what we face, we are never alone — and there is always hope.
Shareen Wright is a member of Kings Church, which meets on Sundays at 10.30am, with coffee available from 10am.
