WOKINGHAM & EMMBROOK climbed up to 16th in Combined Counties Premier North with a clean sheet victory over Holyport.

Within two minutes an infringement in the penalty area was adjudged sufficient to have caused a penalty which Allen Bossman stepped up to slot past keeper, Matteo Giacobbe to put the Sumas ahead early on.

Two free kicks later, Hoath took a third which went out for a corner kick to Holyport. Another Hoath free kick never produced much. Sumas went forward upfield and Linturn, from an angle, sent the ball over the top of goal.

Jake Woods was weaving through the traffic then Bossman was fouled. Woodward took the free kick. When Holyport regained possession, full back Chitepo began to join the attack along the wing.

An ensuing shot, rebounded from Sumas’ defence and a foul gave Woodward a chance to send the ball towards the opposite goal. It was collected by Joao Jardim whose shot curled away from the target.

Holyport took an early free kick after Sumas were foiled by a rebound off of Dan Wilson and headed past the outside of the post. Minutes later Sam Mead made a change in the mood of the game by adding a second goal for the Sumas, leaving 25 minutes for defending a winning advantage.

Woodward then made a superb save as Holyport rallied and a shot directly in front of goal was tipped over the top of the bar.

End of game substitutions brought on Nick Solomon for Allen Bossman and Jake Woods made way for Calum Gethin-Barkway using all of Sumas’ substitutes. The last minutes, including nine minutes additional time, saw Holyport foiled in attack again but one shot hit the upright.

Wokingham & Emmbrook: 1]. Woodward, (GK). 2]. Badshah. 3. Wright. 4].West. (C). 5]. Wilson. 6]. Maunders. 7]. Linturn. 8]. Mead. 9]. Woods. 10]. Jardim. 11]. Bossman. Substitutes: 12]. Haworth. 14]. Gethin-Barkway. 15]. Solomon. 16]. Whittaker. 17]. Harris.
