PUPILS at The Abbey School celebrated an excellent set of A-Level results on Thursday morning.
As grades nationwide return to ‘normal’ 2019 distributions, 29 candidates secured all A*/A grades – more than 41% of the school’s Year 13 cohort.
More than one in five of all grades achieved were at A*, almost 60% at A*/A and 86% A*-B.
The results see leavers head to a wide range of study programmes, including: Classics at Cambridge, Economics and Finance at Imperial, Engineering Mathematics at Bristol, Neuroscience and Psychology at King’s and Japanese Studies at Durham.
Head of The Abbey School, Will le Fleming, said: “We are so proud of every single one of our students – and so grateful to the inspirational staff who have stood behind them every step of the way.
“Students are heading off to all sorts of wonderful destinations and experiences. We wish them joy in all they go on to do next. It has been a delight to guide them through school, in some cases all the way from Little Knellies, our nursery.
“Now they join the community of Abbey alumnae, which will continue to give them support that lasts lifelong. We can’t wait to hear about all that lies ahead!”
Alongside A-Levels, the scored celebrated successes in the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), an independent project much-prized by leading universities, in what was the first year The Abbey had offered it to its students.
Almost 40% of EPQ grades were A*, 80% A* or A, and 100% at A*-B.
