A man has been arrested after a fight involving weapons left another man with serious injuries in Reading.
Thames Valley Police said the incident happened shortly before 8pm on Monday in Linden Road, Whitley.
Officers were called at about 7.56pm following reports of a fight involving a group of men who are believed to be known to each other.
One man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Police said he has since been discharged.
Armed officers and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) were deployed to the scene as part of the response.
A 25-year-old man from Lower Earley was arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in police custody.
Police said there will continue to be an increased presence in the Whitley area while enquiries continue.
A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “We understand that incidents like this may cause concern, but we believe that this was a targeted incident.
“Our investigation is progressing swiftly and anyone with concerns can speak with a uniformed officer in the area.”
