Kind-hearted bosses at Reading Buses have been thanked for supporting two highly promising badminton players to progress with their training.
For Reading Buses has agreed to honour Alex and Toby Dillingham’s Stagecoach bus passes on their tiger 7 route from Reading Station, through Spencers Wood and on to Fleet until the end of the year.
With the support of Reading Buses the pair have both progressed rapidly over the badminton season and taken a number of prestigious titles.
Toby won silver in the under 17’s English nationals singles and Alex reached the quarter finals of the singles and doubles in the under 17’s English Nationals, losing in close matches to the number one seeds in both events.
In addition, they have won gold, silver and bronze medals in under 19 silver events. Alex is also the Berkshire Senior and under 18 restricted county champion with Toby runner up in the events leading them to play 1 and 2 in the Berkshire County 1st team where they have won all their singles matches.
Whilst playing for England in 2018 – they are now studying for their GCSE’s – in the lower year of the two year age band they reached the last 16 and quarter-finals of international tournaments. They are looking forward to playing whilst in the upper year of the 2 year age band in 2019.
“It is really helpful to have Reading Buses support for the boys to use the tiger 7 route which we would appreciate continuing,” said Stephen Dillingham.
“We really appreciate Reading Buses support,” he added.
Robert Williams, Reading Buses Chief Executive Officer, said: “We were pleased to be able to support Alex and Toby when their father approached us after we took over Stagecoach’s route 7 between Reading and Fleet.
“The boys had previously been given passes by Stagecoach to allow them to travel free on the service and we were delighted to be able to continue that support for two amazingly talented young prospects.
“It has been great to hear about Alex and Toby’s success and we are happy that we can continue to support them – and that they in turn are so pleased with their bus travel.”
