A major gas leak has been found in Wokingham town centre this afternoon.
The Wokingham Paper has received reports of the leak affecting the area around Bush Walk.
Residents reported smelling gas this afternoon.
We understand that the area affected is around Superdrug, but this has yet to be confirmed. The pavement was only completed last Saturday, just in time for ArtFest!
A spokesperson for SGN told The Wokingham Paper: “We were called to the site at 2.30pm. A passerby smelt gas and called the national emergency number, which was the right thing to do.
“Our engineer is on site carrying out safety checks, there is no leak in the surrounding buildings.
“We are now working on repairs.”
All roads are open as normal and it is possible to access all shops, which remain open as well.
