STAFF and residents at a Shinfield care home came together for a colour festival to celebrate Pride Month.
Shinfield View was treated to a pride-themed display of colours in the home’s garden, where multi-coloured powder paint was thrown in the air.
Residents’ family and friends joined in with the afternoon celebrations, enjoying a barbecue lunch and music from musician Jean Claude, who performed a range of reggae, soul and rock and roll tunes for people to sing along to.
The festivities served to emphasise acceptance and positivity towards the LGBTQ+ community.
Jodie Whatmore, Shinfield View general manager, said: “We are incredibly proud to have hosted the colour festival at Shinfield View, a vibrant celebration in honour of pride month.
“This event allowed us to come together as a community and show our support for the LGBTQ+ community.
“The throwing of the colours, accompanied by the lively performance of Jean Claude, created a lovely atmosphere. Our residents and staff enjoyed singing, dancing, and embracing the spirit of pride.
“It was a great experience.”
She added that the festival epitomised the home’s commitment to inclusivity, celebrating diversity and creating a place where “everyone feels valued and accepted”.
The colour-throwing took place just as Jean Claude was winding down his set, with residents able to enjoy a rainbow cloud in the sky altogether.
Shinfield View’s in-house cooking staff were kept busy, preparing cheeseburgers, hotdogs and vegetarian burgers, as well as serving up a wide variety of drinks from the home’s very own bar and bistro, The Aragon.
