The Midcounties Co-operative has opened a brand-new local Co-op store at 9am on Thursday, December 12 in Crowthorne.

To mark the grand opening, the first 50 customers through the doors received a Golden Ticket, with every ticket guaranteeing a prize. Lucky customers could win anything from a luxury Christmas hamper to £100 to spend in-store.

The new convenience store will be open from 7am to 10pm each day and will offer essential grocery items, from fruit and vegetables, fresh meat and flowers to wines, spirits and chilled beer. It will also host a wide range of award-winning COOK frozen ready meals, as well as a Costa Express machine.

The Midcounties Co-operative recently launched its new Doing Good Together Fund which allows members to apply for grants to give a helping hand to local causes that matter to them. The Doing Good Together Fund has been created in response to the Society’s members, which total more than 700,000 people, who said that they wanted to be able to give back more to their local communities.

Using a greater share of the Society’s profits towards benefiting the local community, the fund will provide small grants to support important local good causes, including those in the Crowthorne area – from dinner and dance sessions for those with dementia to plants for parks, from biscuits for book clubs to kits for cricket teams, and much more.

Elliot Dutton, Store Manager at the new local Co-op store in Crowthorne said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to our new store in Crowthorne and meet our new neighbours. There’s going to be some brilliant activity on the opening day, with 50 great prizes up for grabs and the chance to sample some of our best-selling products over the weekend.

“We’re thrilled to be able to invest in the local area, creating jobs and enhancing the community by offering convenience, exceptional quality, and an extensive selection of Fairtrade products. We look forward to welcoming customers to the new store – and best of luck to the first 50 visitors who will receive a Golden Ticket!

The Midcounties Co-operative is a family of businesses, covering more than 230 Co-op food stores across the West Midlands, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. It also trades nationally through its Your Co-op Travel, Your Co-op Childcare, Your Co-op Energy and Your Co-op Broadband and Mobile businesses.
