As the countdown continues to Wokingham Pride on July 11, details are being confirmed of more acts that visitors can look forward to on the Elms Field stage set amidst the food, fund-raising and market stalls.
One of the latest ones to be announced is Phelim Mader from just over the border in Bracknell.
Jill from Wokingham Pride who arranges the artists for Wokingham Pride said: “For the fourth year, Wokingham Pride will have live acts providing entertainment throughout the day on Elms Field.
“These are a mixture of returning acts and new acts providing a fun filled afternoon for the LGBTQ community and their allies.”
Phelim said: “I’m a proud father to a few LGBTQ+ kids and I wanted to get involved with Pride because I feel like it’s one of the few places that everybody can go and know they can be authentically themselves and feel included.
“There’s a lot of noise around the world at the minute from people trying to be divisive, and I think music is something that brings everyone together, regardless of their background”.
“I have my own original tracks that I play occasionally, but I find as much as I enjoy playing these, you can’t beat a room full of people singing ‘Hit me baby one more time’ back at you, so I tend to stick to covers these days.
“I hope people can enjoy some popular and some slightly more obscure songs that they can enjoy singing along with when I’m playing”.
