Firefighters were called out in the early hours of Tuesday morning after a pile of illegally dumped waste caught fire near Binfield.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the incident shortly after 3:10am on Tuesday, July 29, with a crew from Bracknell Fire Station dispatched to Ryehurst Lane.
When firefighters arrived, they found that a quantity of fly-tipped waste had been set alight.
A spokesperson for Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Bracknell Fire Station was sent to the scene.
“On arrival, the crew discovered a pile of illegally dumped waste on fire.
“Firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish the fire.
“The crew was at the scene for approximately 45 minutes.”
The blaze was safely extinguished without further incident.
Fly-tipping is a criminal offence and can pose a serious fire risk, particularly during periods of hot and dry weather. Anyone with information about illegal waste dumping is encouraged to report it to the relevant local authority.
