A fantastic and fun event came to Winnersh last Saturday, and even a sharp shower couldn’t stop the summer festivities.
Winnersh Fete, which was put together by Winnersh parish council, brought together the local community, and provided an opportunity for local clubs, charities and organisations to raise crucial funds for their causes.
Marcia Milsom, town clerk, told Wokingham Today: “We are extremely grateful to this year’s sponsors who enabled us to provide lots of free activities and displays, including the petting farm and birds of prey display :
“These included Hamblin Watermains, Adam Colvin – Avocado Property, Prospect Estate Agents, Roy Wood Transits and Legacy Law.
“We would also like to thank Wokingham Borough Council for providing the climbing wall and inflatable fun.
“The day would not be possible without the support and dedication of not only the staff and Councillors at Winnersh parish council, but the numerous volunteers who willingly gave up their time to help on the day with setting up, car parking and packing everything away again.
“The day was absolutely sweltering, so we are even more appreciative to them for giving up their time.!
The main event was followed by a fantastic performance courtesy of The ChestNuts, a local band who provided rousing renditions of popular music.
“It was a fabulous way to end a fabulous day.,” she concluded.
