A READING-based entertainment team is on the hunt to find the town’s top hidden talent.
GospelVibez is hosting a showcase event and inviting singers, dancers, actors, rappers and DJs to show what they can do.
The live sessions at the Vocal Networking studio in Woodley are designed to be a platform for artists who usually perform in churches or youth groups.
Organiser, TJ Shiyanbola said Reading and the surrounding area had “an abundance of talent” and wanted to give local performers a chance to shine.
“Every week, people sing in churches or at youth groups and the standard is amazing. There is so much talent in Reading which doesn’t get noticed outside those environments and that is why we have launched GospelVibez.
“We know there are many people who are looking for a space where they can showcase their talent in front of a warm, supportive and encouraging crowd. At the same time, we want to provide a place where audiences can watch amazing Christian valued based entertainment.”
TJ is an award-winning performer and professional MC with 13 years’ experience of hosting Gospel concerts.
He has teamed up with well-known Gospel singer and voice coach, Nicole Sanderson, who also conducts the Reading Community Gospel Choir.
The event will be held at the popular Vocal Network studios in Woodley which not only provides artist support and management but is also a public record label.
Added TJ: “Getting started in the entertainment business is not easy. There is a lot to know and learn apart from performing on a stage.
“We want to work with people to help bring out the best of their God-given gift but also to walk with them every step of the way making sure they are not taken advantage of.
“We’ve had a large number of enquiries already and more are still coming in. I want to stress we’re not just looking for singers but producers, designers and comedians. Where are all the funny comedians who tell clean jokes?
“We hope to hold an event every two months so if you can’t make this one, please get in touch and we’ll book you in for a later session.”
The first GospelVibez at Vocal Network, 6 Library Parade in Woodley, takes place on Saturday, September 2, from 7.30pm till 10.30pm. Tickets cost just £5.
