Hospitality firm Hall & Woodhouse (H&W) has revealed a new, coveted addition to its spirits menu; James Gin, a craft gin invented and produced by TV presenter & Top Gear legend James May.
The partnership is the gin brand’s first national pub listing and sees James Gin stocked in all of H&W’s 45 managed pubs across the south.
The presenter’s award-winning gin can now be enjoyed at Peacock Farm, Hall & Woodhouse Crowthorne, and all other H&W managed pubs in the region.
Commenting on the partnership, James May said: “The best place to drink James Gin is obviously my pub in Swallowcliffe. However, it’s quite small so not everyone can fit in.
“So, I’m delighted that James Gin is now also available in Hall & Woodhouse’s pubs, as our first national pub listing.
“Hall & Woodhouse has been in business since 1777, so they’ve had long enough to figure out how to do things properly…which is exactly what we like.”
James May founded James Gin in 2021 and has since won more than a dozen awards, including three World Gin Awards.
James Gin is also the world’s most followed gin brand, boasting over 1.6 million social media followers. After being told that he would go to prison if he tried to make gin in his garage, James teamed up with Hugh Anderson, founder of rural Wiltshire-based Downton Distillery, and the idea of Asian Parsnip was born.
The founding gin combines the homely flavour of English root vegetables with spices of the Far East, delivering a warming gin with lingering, light sweet notes.
Anthony Woodhouse, chairman of Hall & Woodhouse, said: “We’re hugely excited to be working with James May to bring his gin to the millions of guests who visit our pubs each year. Having created and brewed our own Badger Beers for almost 250 years, we know a thing or two about good taste.
“James is a big supporter of the pub industry and shares our belief that pubs still play an incredibly important role in the community. It’s an absolute joy to partner with such a champion for the local pub and we’re proud to be sharing his creation with our guests.”
James Gin is available now at all Hall & Woodhouse pubs in Berkshire; Peacock Farm, Hall & Woodhouse Crowthorne, and all other H&W managed pubs in the region.
