‘He gives everything for the shirt’ Noel Hunt speaks on Tom Ince after Paul Ince sacked by Reading FC

Reading FC interim boss described top scorer Tom Ince as a ‘top pro’ after his dad was sacked as manager last week.

Hunt will take charge for the final five games of the season to try and help Reading survive in the Championship after Paul Ince’s contract was terminated.

Tom Ince, who is Reading’s top scorer this campaign with nine league goals, is in the unusual position of still being at the club while his dad has been sacked.

However, interim manager Hunt has no hesitation that Tom Ince is ready to deliver on the pitch once he is back from injury.

“Tom Ince is trying his best to get back out on the grass even though his injury is a hard one,” said Hunt.

“He wants to get back and contribute to the team.

“He’s a top pro, a great kid. He has a good manner around him, he’s calm.

“He said he understands it, it’s football and his vision hasn’t changed. He’s desperate to get back and that hasn’t changed.

“We had a conversation yesterday morning and he’s on board and fighting for his time on the pitch to get back, which shows how much he wants to be here.

“On the pitch he’s put everything into it, he gives everything for the shirt and we’re going to need that over the next few weeks.

“Everyone has to give everything for this shirt because it’s so important.”

The Royals currently have several senior players out injured during the most crucial stage of the season.

Speaking on Reading’s injury issues, Hunt said: “Ovie (Ejaria) is not close. If anything he might get the last game, but I doubt it. More than likely he will miss it.

“Junior (Hoilett) is out on the grass but is still a bit away. I’ve had meetings with the boys and they’re itching to get back.

“Junior, Shane (Long), Tom Mac (McIntyre) are all pushing themselves to get back before time to help the team.

“We’ve got a game plan to play on Saturday with and without the ball. To get a result would be a massive plus for us.

“ I want to see everything that comes with being a Reading player. Enthusiasm, work rate, the work ethic and emotion has to be 100%, the fire in the belly. They are our fundamentals.”
