Roger Herridge praised the response of Josh Howell to tuck home the winning goal as Binfield edged past Reading City 3-2 at Rivermoor Stadium on Monday evening.
The Moles took an early lead through Danny Horscroft but trailed 2-1 at half-time after Rhys York and Ben Cook found the net.
Howell then had a big chance to equalise when the visitors won a penalty, but he scuffed his spot kick allowing goalkeeper Matt Carr to make the stop.
But Binfield rallied, equalising through Jemel Johnson before Howell dispatched a second penalty in the closing minutes following a foul on lively substitute Eddie Lee to complete the comeback.
“If Josh gets a penalty you expect it to end up in the back of the net,” Moles manager Herridge told The Wokingham Paper.
“But it was a little soft underfoot and he’s not caught it quite well and the goalkeeper, who was their man-of-the-match which probably tells you a story, he’s made a save.
“Fair play to Josh, he didn’t let it trouble him.
“He went on and had a great second half and when the opportunity came again he didn’t have any hesitation in picking up the ball and doing what he should’ve done with the first one.”
The win served as a big boost to Binfield as they look to make up some ground on the sides above them and begin climbing the Hellenic Premier Division table.
The Moles, who now sit 12th, have as many as eight games in hand on some sides but are scheduled to play five times before Christmas to give them a chance to build up some momentum.
“It’s all just a bit frustrating really,” said Herridge.
“That Flackwell Heath game (on November 23) was the first game we’d played for nearly two weeks.
“It’s hard to get any momentum and you’re losing match fitness. You can train but there’s nothing like playing competitive fixtures.
“It was a really, really difficult pitch (last night) and hard for players to keep their feet.”
He added: “First half we struggled to get going a little bit. They were quite a young side and they had good movement and good pace and they certainly asked a few questions of us.
“We were a little bit wasteful. Danny Horscroft scored a great goal to put us in front and then we’ve shot ourselves in the foot.
“We came out in the second half and there was only one team in it. We created enough chances in the second half to have won every game we’re going to play in the next month to be honest.
“Josh misses a penalty and you start thinking it’s not going to be our night but we kept going, we changed our shape a little bit, we brought Eddie Lee on and although we left it late, from that moment on with half an hour to go there was only going to be one winner really.”
