St Nicholas Church Christmas Fayre at Hurst raised valuable funds to help refurbish the church organ and improve its sound.
A good crowd went along to the fayre last Saturday in the village hall and the neighbouring Scout hall.
There were gifts, cakes, crafts and card stalls, crafts and games for the children, and a barbecue. Father Christmas was popular.
Becky Vaughan of the fundraising team said: “We were pleased to have so many visitors.”
Associate priest, the Revd Graham Theobald, said: “The church’s organ is quite a good instrument, but some of it has started becoming unreliable.
“We’re probably looking at raising something like £15,000 to £20,000 for the work. We have some parts including pipes from another church which, at the moment, are at the back of our church.”
He said incorporating those pieces into the church’s organ should improve the quality of the sound.
The church would be applying for grants, and it was hoped to get things moving on the project in 2024.
