The Public Protection Partnership undertakes routine patrols with Thames Valley Police to check for overweight goods vehicles and, where appropriate, prosecutes drivers and/or operators under the Road Traffic Act 1988.
That Act makes it an offence to drive or to use on a public road an overloaded vehicle, namely a vehicle which exceeds its maximum plated weight for gross, axle(s) or train weight.
