Wokingham has been ranked in the top ten of most peaceful places to live in England, with only 3.3 complaints per 1,000 residents in the past year.
New research undertaken by the Sell House Fast analysed a variety of factors, including noise complaints, light pollution and the number of sewage works, among others, to uncover the most peaceful places to live in England.
Wokingham was placed seventh in the table with a score of 2.96 out of 10, with Solihull noted the calmest area in England – scoring just 2.28.
Wiltshire is second on the list, offering some of the cleanest air and darkest skies in England. Only 0.1% of the land here is affected by bright light, meaning you’ll likely avoid the glare of artificial lights at night.
Noise complaints are almost unheard of, at just 0.9 per 1,000 people, and greenhouse gas emissions sit among the lowest nationwide at 0.9 kt CO₂e per km².
Stephen Conway, leader of Wokingham borough council, told Wokingham Today: “‘It’s good to know that Wokingham rates highly in this independent assessment.
“We all know that Wokingham is a great place to live and work, but it’s nice to have that confirmed.”
