Reading FC dug deep to draw 1-1 against Norwich on Friday evening and claim an important point at Carrow Road.
The home side started the stronger of the two sides, forcing Lumley and Holmes into last-ditch interventions early on.
Reading were also able to fashion two chances of their own before the break in the shape of direct free-kicks from Junior Hoilett and Tom Ince.
But it was the Canaries who broke the deadlock through Adam Idah, who swept home after some intricate play on the edge of the box.
Joe Lumley 7: Demonstrated sound decision-making, coming off his line at the right moments. Made solid stops from Pukki and Sargent either side of the break.
Junior Hoilett 6: Made a fantastic run in the first couple of minutes which could have resulted in a penalty. Industrious all night long on both ends of the pitch.
Andy Yiadom 6: Made a crucial intervention in the opening moments to deny Norwich an almost certain goal. Brought the ball forward well but never looked in control of the threat offered by Idah and Pukki
Tom Holmes 6: Was the pick of the defenders, putting in a typically committed display. Was perhaps fortunate not to have seen red after bringing down Pukki despite appearing to be the last man.
Naby Sarr 5: Relied on positioning to handle the pace and guile of Josh Sargent. Still getting up to speed but Reading’s defence looks stronger with him in it.
Tom McIntyre 5: Did what he was selected to do, largely enjoying his match-up with Max Aarons. Often lacked the quality to provide an outlet down Reading’s left.
Tom Ince 6: Was unable to get on the ball as much as he would have liked in the first half. A quiet night by his lofty standards.
Mamadou Loum 7: A positive showing from the midfielder. Enjoyed the time he was afforded by Norwich’s midfield, demonstrating his ability to dictate from the centre of the park.
Jeff Hendrick 6: Put in a busy performance adopting positions higher up the pitch to regain possession and act as the link in the transition.
Lucas Joao 4: Somewhat ineffective. Forcing Gunn into a reflex save with a header from eight yards out was about as good as it got on a disappointing night for the forward.
Andy Carroll 6: Tucked his penalty away with authority. Worked hard to play others into the game, albeit without too much success.
Yakou Meite 5: Added a little more impetus to the Royals attack.
Nesta Guinness-Walker 6: Won the penalty for the equaliser with a fantastic burst into the box. Could have conceded one in the final moments.
