A woman from Reading has been spared jail after she exposed her genitals, then injured and spat at police.
Charlotte Adams, 35, of Waylen Street, Reading, has avoided a custodial sentence after indecent exposure and a confrontation with Thames Valley Police officers.
She often frequents the town centre, and at one point got into a confrontation with officers, initially flashing her genitals at a police officer.
The circumstances turned violent when she kicked a police officer’s knee, causing injury, and spat at an officer.
All of this happened on Sunday, May 3.
Ms Adams admitted to these offences at a Reading Magistrates Court hearing, and had to return for sentencing.
Her defence lawyer mentioned undergoing a mental health crisis, and reacted in the way she did due to trauma from previous police incidents.
He also said that she has engaged positively with the Nova Project, a specialist housing service run by charity Launchpad in partnership with Reading Borough Council to provide 10 female clients with homes and informed support to help them overcome multiple disadvantages, including homelessness and abuse.
The presiding Magistrates sentenced her to an 11-month community order managed through the probation service.
She was also ordered to pay £100 to the officer she injured.
It was mentioned that Ms Adams receives Universal Credit and Personal Independent Payment (PIP).
The compensation and any other penalties will be deducted from her benefits payments.
Ms Adams was sentenced at Reading Magistrates Court on Friday, July 17.
